Can a Coach Help Me Find My Purpose?

Can a Coach Help Me Find My Purpose?

Why the Answer May Already Be Within You

Can a Coach Help Me Find My Purpose?

You've built a life you can be proud of. The career, the title, the reputation, the results. And yet something feels off. Somewhere along the way, the life you built stopped reflecting who you are becoming.

If that sounds familiar, you may be wondering whether a coach can help you find your purpose. I hear this question often from high-achieving women, and my answer may surprise you. A coach can help you gain clarity about your purpose, but not by handing it to you. The most powerful thing a good coach does is help you reconnect with the truth you already know.

I spent more than 30 years in executive leadership with organizations including Mars, PepsiCo, Edelman, and Nordstrom. Today, as a Trusted Advisor and leadership strategist, I support leaders who are ready to move beyond performance, pressure, and obligation into a life that feels aligned with who they truly are. Here's what I've learned about purpose, and how the right support can help you find yours.

Why Purpose Feels So Hard to Find

Most of the leaders I work with aren't lost because they lack ability or ambition. They're unclear because they've spent years overriding their own inner wisdom.

High-achieving women are often rewarded for meeting expectations, pushing through, and putting everyone else first. Over time, that pattern teaches you to silence your voice and second-guess your knowing. You keep performing, but you lose touch with what you actually want.

That disconnect carries a hidden cost. The longer you override the wisdom within you, the longer you delay the fulfillment, impact, and joy you were created to experience.

How a Coach Can Help You Find Clarity

They Help You Hear Your Own Voice Again

When you've spent years meeting other people's expectations, your own voice can feel faint. A skilled coach creates space for you to slow down and listen. Often, the answers you've been searching for surface once the noise quiets down.

They Help You See the Patterns Keeping You Stuck

Many women stay in situations that no longer fit who they're becoming. The reason might be fear of disappointing others, a belief that you haven't earned the right to want more, or a habit of waiting for permission. A coach helps you uncover these patterns so you can choose differently.

They Help You Trust Yourself Through a Pivot

Purpose often reveals itself during life's biggest transitions, such as a career shift, a loss, a milestone, or a quiet sense that it's time for something new. With the right support, these moments become opportunities to shift your life in your favor.

They Bring Strategy to Your Calling

Clarity alone isn't enough. Once you reconnect with your truth, you still need a plan to lead from it. Purpose and strategy belong together, and the right coach helps you move from knowing to doing with conviction.

What a Coach Can't Do for You

A coach can't give you your purpose. Be cautious of anyone who promises to tell you what you're here to do. Your purpose lives within you, and a good coach helps you uncover it.

A coach also can't replace deeper healing when it's needed. I wrote Healing Is Required because I've seen how unresolved pain keeps leaders from stepping fully into who they're meant to be. If grief, trauma, depression, or anxiety are part of your story, a licensed therapist can be an important part of your support.

Finally, a coach can't do the inner work for you. If you're looking for surface-level tactics without deeper reflection, coaching probably won't give you what you're hoping for.

Signs You're Ready for This Kind of Support

Coaching tends to make the biggest difference when:

  • You feel the tension between where you are and where you know you're called to be
  • You sense there's another level of purpose, fulfillment, and impact available to you
  • You're ready to trust your own knowing and stop waiting for permission
  • You want to lead from your full identity with greater strategy, clarity, and conviction

It may not be the right time if you're committed to keeping the version of yourself that no longer feels aligned, or if you're unwilling to explore what your life could become beyond what feels familiar.

What Clients Experience

When leaders reconnect with their truth, the changes show up in how they lead, decide, and create impact. Here's what some of the people I've worked with have shared:

  • "The Advisory and consulting work Anika has done transformed my company in less than 90 days." (Advisory Client, Business Owner and CEO)
  • "Anika is a trusted prophetic voice here to help leaders see their visions and bring them to life." (Consulting Partner)

What to Look For in a Coach

Not every coach is equipped for this kind of work. Look for someone who:

  • Has walked through significant pivots in their own life and leadership
  • Values reflection and truth as much as strategy and results
  • Asks more questions than they answer in your first conversation
  • Doesn't promise a quick fix or a guaranteed revelation
  • Knows when to recommend additional support, such as a therapist

Everything You've Built Has Prepared You for What's Next

If you're searching for your purpose, you aren't starting over. Every role, every challenge, and every success has been preparing you for your next chapter. The clarity you're looking for is closer than you think.

A coach can help you quiet the noise, recognize the patterns that keep you stuck, and trust yourself enough to make your pivot. The truth you need is already within you. Sometimes you just need the right support to hear it.

Some people talk about healing. I create the conditions for it to happen. I am a spiritual strategist, trusted advisor, and author with over 25 years of experience guiding executives, entrepreneurs, and visionary leaders through the kind of transformation that changes not just what they do, but who they are. My work lives at the intersection of divine wisdom and strategic leadership, and I have a gift for helping high achievers see what has been hiding beneath the surface of their success. I am the founder of The Healing Crusade, a community built around personal and collective restoration, and the host of The Anika Apple Podcast, where prophetic clarity meets practical guidance for people ready to live with greater purpose and alignment. My clients have included leaders at global organizations and the results they describe are not incremental. They are life-changing. My book, Healing Is Required, is a prophetic call to awaken, release what no longer serves, and rise into the fullness of who you were created to be. Equal parts mirror and map, it meets readers exactly where they are and refuses to let them stay there. If you are ready to stop performing and start healing, you are in the right place.

Right now, the picture on my laptop is of me and my last beau, and honestly, looking at it now, it brings a smile instead of what could have been regret. Aaahhh. Time well spent and a love worth having for sure....

You Already Know. Now You Just Need To Decide You are not stuck because you do not know what to do next. I have to say this to you. Between my own experiences of repeating that I am "stuck" and the number of times I hear it from the people I am blessed to support, it adds up to hours every month. Let's take a moment to explore what is really true. Not knowing what to do next is just that. It is a decision point. Once you choose what to do next, you now know what you are going to do. That is...

In Your Secret Garden Nursery Rhymes are in a word...odd. Right???? So many have deep undertones that make you do a mean side-eye. 🤨 I was reflecting on what God said to me this morning and remembered a line from Mary, Mary quite contrary. "Oho, how does your garden grow?" (Ummm- pretty grim nursery rhyme, by the way.) I don't recommend looking up the assumed meaning. But I invite you to hold that question as you read the message that God shared with me for us today. Each of us have a garden,...
