How Does Your Garden Grow? | Your Remarkable Life

In Your Secret Garden

Nursery Rhymes are in a word...odd. Right????

So many have deep undertones that make you do a mean side-eye. 🤨

I was reflecting on what God said to me this morning and remembered a line from Mary, Mary quite contrary. "Oho, how does your garden grow?" (Ummm- pretty grim nursery rhyme, by the way.)

I don't recommend looking up the assumed meaning. But I invite you to hold that question as you read the message that God shared with me for us today.

Each of us have a garden, and God has given us the assignment to be the caretaker. Our job is to determine what we want to plant. We get to be precise about the amount of space we want for what we plant. Pruning and harvesting are a part of our responsibilities as well. You can have plants, flowers, or whatever you want in your secret garden.

The seeds you choose will be watered, fed, and given sunlight by the master gardener- the creator- Spirit. Sometimes, you will be asked to water it, and other times, a bountiful rain will fall, blessing the earth and everything therein. The conditions for growing whatever we plant will be, in a word, perfect.

Given the guarantee of growth, the question before you is this:

"What will you grow in your garden?"

You look down at the seeds in each of your hands. One is filled with Seeds of Doubt, lack, emptiness, unforgiveness, sorrow, and limitations. The other hand holds Seeds of faith- growing in variations of love, joy, opportunities, change, hope, overflow, grace, and peace. Both will grow in abundance. (Yes, you can have an abundance of emptiness or overflow. It's your choice.)

The conscious choice is pretty obvious, but before you start celebrating and sending virtual high-fives to each other, let me ask you this:

"What's growing in your secret garden?"

That's where the real exploration starts. We have a garden that we don't always tend in the same way you just envisioned the garden in this example. This secret garden has seeds you planted long ago. It probably has some weeds in the areas where the Seeds of Faith are planted. It might even have a significant area dedicated to the Seeds of Doubt, likely planted to help combat the surprise attacks of rejection, disappointment, and fear.

Luckily for us, God sent a reminder that any day is a good day to take a look at what we are harvesting and ask these questions:

  • Does this represent what I intended to plant?
  • What am I asking God to water for me (ie- is this what I want more of?)
  • Have I dedicated space to that which I no longer want?
  • Am I satisfied with this harvest?

Whatever you plant will receive nurturing from the master gardener, with a guarantee that it will grow. Today is the day for you to walk through the garden.

What am I feeding? What stories are ready to be released? Am I owning the experience that I am having? What do I want God to help me grow in my life? Because whatever you choose will grow in abundance. It is worth cultivating what you actually want in your life.

Many of you remember my story about how I could not grow plants. I drove a bamboo plant needing life support across state lines to my dad, who revived it and split it into multiple plants. Yes, it was that bad. But rather than give up, I changed my story and began to say that I could grow plants. Take a quick look at what's growing now.

We can make our lives more Remarkable by tending to our gardens with intention. Be encouraged. What you plant will grow, so choose the seeds that will blossom into a harvest you really desire.

Peace and Blessings!

About Last Night, Holding Space

Holding Space was incredible!

Everyone left moved yesterday. There was an abundance of love and being present for each other. Tears flowed, truths expressed, and there was healing. We aligned on a miracle we are standing for as well. Something magical happens when you are in community with one another. One perfect example is that you don't have to shoulder whatever you are facing alone.

Here's the excerpt Anika shared in the session last night.

Some people talk about healing. I create the conditions for it to happen. I am a spiritual strategist, trusted advisor, and author with over 25 years of experience guiding executives, entrepreneurs, and visionary leaders through the kind of transformation that changes not just what they do, but who they are. My work lives at the intersection of divine wisdom and strategic leadership, and I have a gift for helping high achievers see what has been hiding beneath the surface of their success. I am the founder of The Healing Crusade, a community built around personal and collective restoration, and the host of The Anika Apple Podcast, where prophetic clarity meets practical guidance for people ready to live with greater purpose and alignment. My clients have included leaders at global organizations and the results they describe are not incremental. They are life-changing. My book, Healing Is Required, is a prophetic call to awaken, release what no longer serves, and rise into the fullness of who you were created to be. Equal parts mirror and map, it meets readers exactly where they are and refuses to let them stay there. If you are ready to stop performing and start healing, you are in the right place.

Woman in front of a sunset

This thing has levels, y’all Woman on the beach at sunset. When I made the shift from corporate, I believed I was ready for EVERYTHING that business ownership could throw at me. I was no stranger to under-resourced, minimally funded and transforming businesses. Did I ever tell you about my Head of HR role that supported 3 GMs and led DEI for an entire business segment? Listen, I was pretty clear that my successes there proved I could do anything! And I can. I am. I will. But not without...

Do You Really Agree? Anika Apple with Robert Hartwell and Andrew Norlen. Last week in New York was everything! I met remarkable leaders, shared the stage with Robert Hartwell and Andrew Norlen, was interviewed by Ms. Elizabeth, and left with new friendships and ideas for the future. Then, almost instantly, I was pulled out of the celebration and back into something much more personal. An old agreement. Old agreements are like beliefs we've stopped questioning. Eventually, they become the...

A fiery orange plume erupts into the dark night sky.

That Good Ole July Fire (Works) Is it just me, or does the fact that we are in July 2026 feel WILD? We're celebrating the 250 years of US independence in a whirlwind of rights being stripped away and freedom restricted. It feels like a heavy conflict for me. But if I'm honest, many celebrations have occurred in tandem with people experiencing loss of rights, inability to speak freely, and being ostracized for their beliefs around the world. It's not a new conflict, but nonetheless, I am tired...
