It’s Time I Own The Truth

What a start to the new year.

I’ve spent more than 140 hours in quiet time with God across the mornings of this year. I have been spending uninterrupted time with God to really listen and understand the moment that we are in. Personally, it has been very healing. It’s less about what I have been receiving and more about being present. The personal downloads have been incredible and yet, each has required me to release an old narrative, behavior, and in some cases mindset that contributed to something in the way of my next.

I’ve been playing small.

In fairness, I thought I wasn’t…but when you’re operating from limiting beliefs and outdated narratives, your life goggles are cloudy. I’ve realized that I have been waiting for your invitation to bring all of me to the party.

It might seem silly, but I think you can understand. It might not be your story, but you have probably seen it in others. You know, observing the person who doesn’t seem to know how talented, amazing, or beautiful they are. It’s like you can see them so clearly, but they can’t fully see themself.

I find it interesting that “seeing people” is part of my work in the world. I see identity and purpose in people. It is so simple. It’s like breathing for me. When the person is open, and I am called to support them, God shows me. It’s like a beautiful unveiling of their divinity. I receive words, pictures, and sometimes names. It is sacred work, and I treasure the opportunity to support others in this way.

God showed me who I am, too. It took me a lot longer than I expected to accept and own it. In fact, I am writing this blog as a part of the “own it” journey.

It felt larger than life…but so is God. And you know what? So am I…because I am made in God’s image. We all are. We are created to be so much bigger than the boxes we have been told define us. We are a part of it all. You, too, are larger than life.

Identity is so very powerful. Each day, I have been releasing the old stories that kept me safe so that I could embrace my identity. At every turn, there were emotions that came up, memories, and lots of questions. I met each with grace and the intention to deepen my level of self-acceptance. As I released the old, I began to resonate more with my truth. There is so much of that to be revealed in God’s timing, which matters because our identity serves a purpose for God’s work in the world.

God said something to me that I need to lean in and tell you.

“You have to own your identity because others

are waiting for the ok to own theirs.” Whew!!!

So I sat with them, the varied identities that God has shown me, and decided on what felt comfortable. To be honest, I felt that people would repeat the phrases I heard as a child. “Who does she think she is? She thinks she is all that,” and the host of other things that were generated from the discomfort of others, rather than the impact of my presence. In retrospect, I wish I had thought that I was all that. I know how much easier it would have been for you and me if we owned our identity back then and strolled into this moment with full agency.

Wouldn’t that have been nice?

Perhaps in the movies. In truth, I needed time to mature, establish a relationship with my identity, and accept my gifts. You might find yourself in a similar place in this season if you are not quite owning your identity in the way you desire. I know that it is likely to be there…and I know how good it feels to be striding in it too. Trust me, whatever discomfort you feel today pales in comparison to the freedom you receive when you say yes to being who you are!

While that doesn’t mean that life will be without challenges, owning your identity does mean you are accepting the divine favor and grace that is a shield, teacher, healer, and so much more.

Healing Is Required

Recently, there were a couple of moments that brought me to tears. The last was a call from a dear big sister who has been a constant presence in my life. I grew up with her woven into my family, so I always assumed she knew about the abuse I experienced at the hands of a family member during my early childhood. I later learned she did not.

After reading about what happened to me, she called immediately.
“When did this happen? Was I around? Should I have known?”

Her response moved me deeply. I cried. For so long, I had wondered how many adults knew and never said anything. In that moment, healing happened. She let me feel what it was like for her to be so close to me and not know. I felt the strength of an advocate who would never have allowed harm on her watch. I will never forget that call.

In December, another big sister and soror, Pamela Williams, hosted a holiday dinner party. Her chosen gift for her guests was a signed copy of Healing Is Required. I loved what she said to her inner circle: “We need to heal together.” Naturally, the group decided to read the book together and invited me to join them this spring for a conversation.

The Rise of Whistleblowers: Shining Light on Hidden Truths

One of the strongest themes I see for 2026 is exposure, the unveiling of truths long hidden behind smoke and mirrors. As I advise, whistleblowers will increasingly step forward this year, compelled by divine assignment to reveal systemic inequities and injustices in organizations and communities worldwide. Their courage is not just essential; it's ordained.

But with exposure comes risk; those who bring truth often need protection and support. Whether through prayer or tangible community action, we're called to cover and encourage these brave souls. As more glass towers (symbols of ego-driven and corrupt systems) come crashing down, our awareness and responsibility to act with integrity grow. Rather than simply being spectators of change, we're invited to become active participants, discerning whether our societal foundations align with divine truth, and choosing whether to reconstitute them or build anew on principles of justice and equity.

The Call to Prayer and Collective Healing

In turbulent times, it's easy to feel powerless against the enormity of the world's problems. Yet, I remind you that prayer is both a balm and a tool for transformation. Prayer calls us out of despair and into connection with ourselves, our communities, and most importantly, with God.

This year, more than ever, intentional prayer and spiritual communion are pathways through which we find common ground and dissolve divisions. Prayer is not merely ritual; it's a living conversation, expressing gratitude, pain, confusion, or hope, and asking God for guidance. When combined with the hard work of personal healing, prayer helps us see and embrace one another despite differences, fostering grace and acceptance.

Healing, I assert, is foundational. As we heal, we regain strength to stand in our divine truth and fulfill our assignments. Embracing your own healing journey unlocks compassion, dismantles judgment, and prepares you to become an agent of peace and change, whether in your family, community, or the world at large.

Distraction: Is It Divine or By Design?

Distraction is rampant, a deliberate force in 2026 designed to keep us fragmented, unfocused, and disconnected from our purpose. Whether through media, social channels, or everyday chaos, distractions are engineered to divert our attention from truth, from our assignments, and from God's voice.

I encourage you to discern: Is what I'm seeing divine guidance or man-made design? The antidote lies in intentional spiritual practices, making space for solitude, prayer, and meditation, and consistently taking what you hear or see back to God for confirmation. This discipline fortifies your spiritual discernment so you aren't swayed by every narrative shift or external noise, but instead remain rooted in wisdom and clarity.

Identity: Knowing Who You Are Is Your Superpower

At the core of my divine guidance for the year is identity. If you don't know who you are, the world will rush to define you, often inaccurately or without valuing your true worth. I share my own experience receiving identity from God and emphasize the critical importance of seeking your identity through spiritual connection, not social affirmation.

When grounded in divine identity, you're less vulnerable to external judgment, comparison, or devaluation. You walk boldly in purpose, equipped to withstand challenges and to thrive, even when others misunderstand or oppose your assignment. This year, make it a priority to sit with God and ask: Who do you say I am? What is my purpose? The answers will guide your steps and solidify your role in the transformation unfolding around us.

Triumph or Tribulation, Which Will You Choose?

Finally, I present 2026 as a year of both triumph and tribulation, a season of both destruction and elevation. The question I pose is simple yet profound: Which camp are you in? Will you stand in faith, trust, and growth, or be consumed by chaos and overwhelm?

The path to triumph isn't always easy, but it's paved by spiritual alignment, unwavering trust in divine protection, and a willingness to engage our assignments fully. As you navigate the year, let prayer, healing, discernment, and identity be your anchors. Together, we can contribute to building a world rooted in truth, equity, and unconditional love.
